GEO Health Community of Practice Telecon (March 2021)

The Group on Earth Observations (GEO) Health Community of Practice is pleased to host the next community teleconference on Tuesday, March 2nd from 8:30AM-10AM EST (GMT-5). During this meeting, there will be three invited presentations. First, Vineet Khanna (Veterans Affairs Medical Center’s Department of Radiology in Columbus, OH) will describe a research study by faculty at Cleveland Clinic and the U. of Chicago (Criteria for Low-Dose CT Lung Cancer Screening in the Setting of Air Pollution) to introduce a major shift in how the healthcare community views lung cancer screening with pollution as a factor. Second, Pawan Gupta (USRA/NASA MSFC) will describe some recent work on air quality forecasting with NASA SERVIR in Thailand. Third, Pablo Méndez-Lázaro (U. of Puerto Rico Medical Sciences Campus) will discuss his current NASA-funded research study to develop an air quality forecasting tool on seasonal Saharan dust storm events in the Caribbean basin. We hope that these presentations focusing on air quality topics will continue to strengthen our scientific networks!
