The Group on Earth Observations (GEO) Health Community of Practice is pleased to host the next community teleconference on Tuesday, June 15th from 8:30AM-10AM EDT (GMT-4). This teleconference will focus on infectious disease research applications. First, Haris Kontoes (Research Director, National Observatory of Athens) will provide an overview of the Early Warning System for Mosquito borne diseases (EYWA) of the EuroGEO Action Group’s Earth Observation for Epidemics of Vector-borne Diseases (National Observatory of Athens / BEYOND Centre of Earth Observation Research and Satellite Remote Sensing). Second, Victoria Gammino (MITRE) will describe her team’s current work on disease vector habitat detection using remote sensing to combat onchocerciasis. Then, the Co-Chairs will moderate an open discussion on next steps for infectious disease research applications. We hope that these discussions focusing on infectious diseases will continue to strengthen our scientific networks!
